Bluebonnet Road

Bluebonnet Road
by Louise Richardson

In the spring of 1979, local Austin singer/songwriter Noah Trundle drags his mother Olive, his younger brother Jo Jo--a budding musician himself-- and Jo Jo's girlfriend, Misty Strand, to the farm where Olive grew up to spread the ashes of her father. The problem is that the nearby river has been dammed and most of the farm is underwater. Borrowing a friend's boat, Noah and company search an island in the river where they see a landmark oak tree, only to be stranded in a flash flood. In this early stage of development of the one-hour musical " Bluebonnet Road," playwright Louise Richardson will ask for audience volunteers to read the script. She will provide stage directions and sing the songs to the accompaniment of Ron Kewin.
